WILD CREATURES, BOWS & SKILLS

Ages 6½-12 / Novato

Try your hand at shooting a bow and arrow.

Meet local wild animals face to face during our animal visits.

Gather plants to dye your camp t-shirt.

This summer camp is a mix of timeless exploration, play, and meaningful skills. Children get to explore the hills and creeks of the local landscape tracking animals and identifying plants. The afternoons are spent learning skills and doing earth based crafts. We also get to learn about local wildlife and each week features a visit from some real live animal ambassadors (please note: we cannot guarantee which animals can visit, but would most commonly include an owl or hawk, a reptile, and a local mammal, or several different raptors. We will not have enough time during our shorter July 1st camp to have an animal ambassador visit).

In addition to our core curriculum this camp may include:

  • Archery

  • Animal Visits

  • Hiking

  • Wild Crafts-clay, natural dyes, felting, etc.

  • Carving (for ages 9-12)

  • and more...

I just want to let you know how much our little girl loved her week at camp. After just the first day, she told me how much she loves birds, and told me lots of types of birds. She was also noticing all sorts of things like how a pond sparkled or how a tree looked. At the end of the week, I asked her what her favorite part of the camp was. She replied, “EVERYTHING”. I could not be happier with all she seemed to have learned, especially a renewal of her confidence and connection to herself and her world.
I hope she will be able to do more Vilda camps.
